Found Cats - Advice and Tips
  • If you have found a cat in the Cheltenham area that you believe to be stray or lost, please contact our Lost and Found Officer: Telephone 01242 577799 or email jackie.ygrace21@yahoo.co.uk.
  • Please note that we cannot come and collect the cat from you immediately. Apart from the fact that our pens are normally full and we have a waiting list of cats to come into care, we are legally obliged to try to find the owner before we can remove the cat from the area.
  • We will ask if it is possible for you (or a friend/neighbour) to take the cat to the vet to be scanned for a microchip. Many cats are chipped but only a scan will reveal it. Your vet will not charge you for this.
  • If the cat is not chipped or if you are unable to take him to the vet, we will send you a CP collar with the Lost & Found phone number on it to put on the cat, as he may live nearby and has simply decided that your house is now part of his territory! If there is no response to the collar within a day or so, we will place a Found advert in the local paper.
  • If we cannot trace the owner through the adverts, then we will look to take the cat into care and find him a new home. It may be a few weeks before we are able to take the cat in, as we usually have a waiting list.
  • If you, or someone you know, might be interested in offering the cat a home, please discuss this with the Lost & Found Officer.
