Fosterers
The cats in our care are looked after by
fosterers in garden pens or in their own homes until a new home can be found.
Even the upkeep of a completely healthy cat is high, food alone costs a minimum
of £6 per week per cat, plus the additional expense of other items such
as litter trays, litter, toys, bowls, bedding, disinfectant, heating and
lighting, etc. Then, before rehoming, we make sure that every cat is neutered,
vaccinated, micro-chipped, wormed, and treated for fleas; making it a very
expensive process!

| If you are interested in fostering there are a few ways of
doing this: |
 |
Pen(s) in
your garden. These are very nice wooden buildings with white insulated wipe
clean interior and an outside run with shelf, supplied and erected by us along
with electrics, lighting and base - all paid for by Cheltenham Cats Protection.
You supply the TLC, ensure that the pens are kept clean and tidy and the cats
are well looked after until a suitable home is found. |
 |
If you do
not have any other animals (cats or dogs) you can look after cats in your home.
The cats would not be allowed out. |
 |
If you
already have cats of your own, you can look after cats in your home if you have
a suitable spare room where the fostered cat cannot mix with yours and cannot
get out. |
 |
In both
home cases the cats have the added advantage of getting a "home from home"
environment and the same cat care standards and provisions apply as to those in
pens. |
 |
In all
cases, help and advice is given and food, litter, vet care, cleaning items and
electricity is paid for. |
