OUR ADOPTION PROCESS
Paw print Tell us which cat you are interested in or what type of cat you are looking for, we will then arrange for you to visit any suitable cat(s) and help you make a decision.
Paw print Next, we carry out a home visit to ensure that your environment suits the needs of the cat; not every cat will suit your specific situation. At this time we will complete any relevant paperwork and answer any further questions.
Paw print Getting a cat ready for adoption is expensive. All of our cats have been treated to our minimum veterinary standards, meaning that they have been examined by a veterinary surgeon, been vaccinated against flu and enteritis, treated against fleas, roundworm and tapeworm and all cats have been blood tested for FIV and FeLV. If the cat has not been neutered before or during its time in our care, provision will be made to ensure owners are able to do this after adoption; our recommended start age for neutering within Cats Protection is four months. We also provide Petplan cover for four weeks free of charge.
Paw print A standard minimum adoption fee of £50 per cat (or kitten) is charged - from 1 January 2012. Please note any donation in excess of this amount will be very welcome and further help us to continue in our endeavours to care for and home as many cats as we can.

CATS LOOKING FOR NEW HOMES
Bob
A picture of Bob relaxing in the garden - whilst a stray, a well fed one!
Bob: Male, black and white, neutered. Age, at least 3 years plus. He has a beautiful soft coat - medium length.

Story: Poor Bob doesn't appreciate not being being allowed out and about. He desperately needs a loving home where he can chill out in the garden.

Although he came to us after being a stray and 'free as a bird', we know he has enjoyed the comforts of home, especially warming himself by the fire during the winter months.

We also know he is a gentle and friendly soul, but not with other cats. Despite being with us for a few months now, Bob couldn't be coaxed out of his basket for any photos.

Bosun: Male, tabby - 4 years old. He has wonderful tabby markings on his back.

Story: This handsome young tabby came to us as a stray. He is very affectionate, and loves putting on a display of roly-polys for anyone with the time. Overall a very friendly cat.

Although he does not like other cats, he does like dogs and people... very much indeed!

Charlie: Male, black with a small white patch on his chest - 4-5 years old.

Story: Charlie came to us as a stray. He is very friendly and now needs a permanent home.

Apart from his love of eating, his favourite things are to have his neck scratched or nose rubbed! We don't why, but he has only half a tail. He doesn't like dogs, but he is fine with children.

Milly and Molly: Tortoiseshell, sisters - only 9 months old. To be homed together.

Story: Two beautiful and delightful young cats. Molly is the more sociable of the two, although with the right home to settle in, we feel sure they will enjoy being part of a family. They are both very active, and we are pleased to say they have both matured into very pretty young felines.

Cleo: Female, black with white medalion shape on chest- 7 years old. Her coat is silky smooth and shiny. Short haired.

Story: Cleo is very friendly and likes to talk, especially for attention. She greets everyone with a quivering tail, and loves a good tickle and stroke.

If there was an Olympic Games for cats, she would make an excellent contender, as she is very energetic and a good jumper.

Thomas: Black and white, short haired, male - two years old.

Story: Poor Thomas was abandoned in a box! He is a bit of a character, and although friendly enough, he seems to be afraid of shoes. We think he may have been kicked in the past, so hopefully with the right handling, he will grow to trust his new owner(s).

He loves toys, especially things that dangle on string and make tinkling noises. He is happy to be picked up when he is relaxed, purrs very loudly, but no voice yet. Probably best suited to household where there are no young children. We don't know how he is with other cats and dogs.

Two female kittens: Black and white, short haired, female - only 4 months old.

Story: We are looking for a home where these two cuties can be homed together. They are a bit shy at the moment but given time and patience, plus lots of love, these little girls will make lovely pets. We think they would be best suited in a family home where there are older children.

Casper and Tigger: Casper/black and white and Tigger/tabby; both short haired. A couple of likely lads, brothers - only 5 months old. To be homed together.

Story: They are in excellent health, and ready to bring joy into anyone's life. This energetic and outgoing pair love toys, especially chasing fabric snakes. They enjoy purring and running about - would you like to meet them? If so, please give our Homing Officer a call on 0845 371 1853 or email jesmifred@hotmail.co.uk.

Tommy
Tommy: Black and white, medium haired, male - approximately 15 years young.

Story: Unfortunately Tommy was unable to go with his owner when he moved.

As you can see from the picture, he enjoys being brushed. He also loves lots of attention and to greet everyone with a quivering tail of delight. He purrs very loudly, but we don't know if he meows much. Like some people at this time of the year, his New Year's resolution is to lose a bit of weight. Yes, he loves his food!

Although he particularly enjoys being outside he is not suitable to live near a main road. Tommy would appreciate having the freedom of a cat flap to come and go. He is terrified of dogs but is fine with cats. If you think you could meet Tommy's needs, please contact our Homing Officer - details top of page. Tommy would love to meet you.

Freddie
photos by Adam
Freddie: Male, 7 years old. Black cat with a silky and shiny coat.

Story: Freddie was left to fend for himself when his owner moved house. Despite this, he is affectionate, happy and active.

He's careful with his claws, and knows how to use a litter tray. Loves heavy stroking on the top of his head the most. A quiet purr, and no voice yet. Doesn't seem interested in toys or play. Just wants attention and tickles.

This very handsome cat was more than happy to pose for our photographer. Freddie can be best summed up as Mr Friendly - ready to bring happiness into anyone's life.

Silver
Silver Female, black and white - approximately 4 years old. Lovely green eyes and a quiet mew.

Story: A very dainty and pretty cat who particularly adores female human company, but not so much male (she is just a little reserved). She clearly has a very gentle nature, and isn't nasty in any way.

Coat is in tip-top condition, and she is eating well. Not a toy player, but loves attention and being spoken to by any female company. Will make a fantastic confidante.
(4 February 2012)
Willow & Hazel: Female, probably sisters, about 12 years old. Willow is ginger and Hazel a light tortoiseshell. To be homed together.

Story: A very shy and reserved couple at the moment, but both were happy to be tickled. Despite being a bit camera shy, definite purring could be heard.

Coco: Male, about 2 years old. Wonderful clear eyes, and his white is very clean. All in all, a very tidy young man.

Story: Coco is settling in well, still a bit nervous but quite approachable. He loves his warm bed (don't we all), and as far as we know, not much of a toy player. We are waiting to hear him purr.

Tiger - feral cat
Tiger (Feral): Female, dark tabby, short haired. She is a feral cat, thus will not be happy or fit in with a family environment.

Story: As you can see in the picture, Tiger is very reluctant to have her picture taken. She is eating well, and has been known to allow stroking and tickling.

If you could you offer a rural home such as a farm, stable or smallholding to this neutered, feral cat - please give Barbara a call on 01242 232158.
